What is the HCG treatment?
A simple to follow prescription treatment medically proven and supervised by a real doctor. Safe for men and women, HCG is naturally present in the human body. The routine is a medical grade treatment of HCG which sees patients lose weight in a sustained manner. The doctor-administered treatment requires daily injections of HCG and a restricted diet of 2100 kilojoules (500 calories). A safe weight loss guide is between 7-20kgs in six weeks. The HCG treatment suppresses appetite and has a positive effect on mood. The treatment is supported with a balanced diet of protein, vegetables and carbohydrates – and no exercise is required. In addition to the structured routine, your doctor will recommend intake of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. For more information on the typical routine see the Treatment page.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. Please be aware that you will find various articles online that vary in their support for the HCG protocol and this is because most are non medical in nature, and are not medically customised for patients by doctors. Our program is supported by robust clinical evidence not to mention the many successful treatments we have supervised in Australia.
We regularly monitor you and your results. This is a medical grade weight loss program.
Can I read more about it?
We’ve noticed that more and more of our patients read a lot. We live in the information age! We love dealing with well informed patients, as it allows us to better tailor our treatments to you. Instead of googling broad search terms, we recommend narrowing your reading to the following articles as a good foundation:
How long does the treatment last?
Treatment vary depending on how much weight patients are wanting to lose. Patients see noticeable results in three to six weeks. During treatment our supervising doctor must see you on a weekly basis if possible.
Do you have other services available?
The doctor you see will be skilled in weight loss treatments, specialising in HCG. If you’d like to discuss anything else in the appointment, then that is not a problem.
Will I be hungry?
Many of our patients, despite being on a calorie restricted diet during treatment report not feeling hungry.
Will it affect my sleep?
Our patients do not report any sleep disturbance, however as you are monitored carefully by your doctor, any unlikely sleep disturbance should be reported.
Do I need to exercise?
No exercise is needed. We actually recommend that patients have minimal physical exertion during their treatment. If you would like to do some exercise during treatment, please discuss this with your doctor.
How can I survive on reduced calories?
Our calorie reduction period is tailored to your body type. We also ensure you’re receiving a balanced mix of vitamins and minerals. This is a common question that your doctor can answer in your consultation more fully.
What sort of results can I expect?
A typical patient loses an average around 400 grams per day on this program. Men tend to lose more than women, however big weight loss numbers are possible for everyone.
My metabolism is different. Have your results accounted for people like me?
Yes. Results are consistent if you follow the protocol your doctor recommends. Like most things in life, it will require some behaviour adjustment, but we think it’s worth it!
How can I keep the weight off after your program?
Keeping weight off after the program is like any other post weight loss management program out there. We recommend a balanced healthy life and a full review of how you became overweight in the first place. Talk to your doctor about what has worked for past patients. They’re the experts.
Can I drink alcohol during treatment?
Alcohol is strictly prohibited during treatment (sorry!). Your body needs real fuel to metabolise and alcohol is not productive in the process of weight loss.
How many times can I do this treatment each year?
In some circumstances we have had patients come back multiple times, however this has always been in close consultation with the doctor.
Is the treatment covered by private health insurance?
Some health funds provide partial cover, so please check with your health fund provider.
I’m concerned by the reduced calorie diet. Will I have any energy?
The great thing about this treatment is that it reduces your hunger, so it might sound scary, but most of our patients report no signs of hunger during the program. In fact, they report higher levels of energy and wellbeing.
